Summary:
Someplace Else provides exactly that for the adult crowd. This establishment is something that’s missing from the restaurant/entertainment scene in Abilene. While there are similar venues in the area, they are geared to a family atmosphere and have limited menus. Someplace Else provides adults with an inclusive experience where they can enjoy food and arcade games away from children and a children’s menu. This venture provides an alternative to the bar scene and “dinner and a movie” for a parent escape night or just a date night in general.
Justification:
Although most new restaurants fail within six months of opening, I believe this venture will be a success in this area. The closest similar attractions are a 2-3 hour drive to the Metroplex or Lubbock area. The venues similar to this in the area: Chucky Cheese, Prime Time, and Mr. Gatti’s Pizza, are family entertainment places and have a limited draw for adults wanting to go someplace for a night. Also, aside from Prime Time, they are not places patrons typically spend more than an hour or so at. This particular venue would be somewhere guests can be entertained for the entire night and not have to go multiple places. Having three universities and a military base in the area provides repeated turnover to the population this establishment is geared toward and would continue to bring new customers to the business.
